Melissa and I did not make it to
Saint Tropez two years ago due to the terrible traffic on the road
there. This year we were much closer (only 10 miles away) and
had received directions for some back roads that got us there
quickly. Saint Tropez is probably the
most famous town in Southern France and consequently overrun with
tourists. The most famous area is the harbor which has classic
architecture and is the meeting point for the rich and famous as
their dock their yachts.
We enjoyed our visit there despite the many
tourists and took a stroll along the harbor before venturing further
into town. There we had lunch and just like in other small
towns enjoyed the narrow streets and shops.
It was quite windy the day we visited.
The Cote D'Azure (French Riviera) is located at the bottom of the
Alps and they have minstrel winds coming over the mountains to the
coast. We had about four days like this during our stay.
The winds were not that bad, however, and provide a wonderful
climate which is low in humidity. Temperatures were always in
the 80's, nice for swimming without getting too sweaty. |
